Oh we do like to be beside the seaside
5-8 July 2013
A small selection of No.1 Ladies headed down to the Isle of Wight, where the Fabulous Ms Tweed currently resides. The original plan was for a small rehearsal involving the Ladies of the South-East (who are not as exotic as they sound but merely hail from London, Surrey, Sussex and Hampshire).
As these things go, the gathering grew a little, with friends and family members coming along for the Ryde (see what we did there, wink wink). Ms Tweed organised a little party for anyone who had had a birthday in the previous 12 months.
On the Sunday the Ladies performed at the beautiful Ventnor Botanic Garden - one of the loveliest venues we've ever played! The sun was shining, the birds were bickering and we were lucky enough to have our two youngest members aged 9 and 10 (we like to nab them early) selling their very fashionable handmade cards.
Afterwards, some of the Ladies headed to the sea side, while others proceeded to get lost in the very exotic gardens. Even though it was a rehearsal weekend we spent our fair share of time on the island's stunning beaches. Perfect for paddling, shell collecting and burying sleeping parents up to their neck, and therefore excellent preparation for our September gig in St Ives!
