Nottingham 15th - 17th Feb 2019
We returned to the Haywood Road Community Centre in Mapperley for our Spring rehearsal weekend. Frances was hosting the weekend and organised it all with her usual amazing efficiency. All our needs were catered for and, despite problems with the slight lack of cooking facilities in the hall itself, the food was excellent and well up to its usual high standard – always high on our agenda!
We had a very intensive, but productive rehearsal session on the Saturday. Jan is now our new Basso player for the first half so this was her first full weekend of playing Basso – and everyone was full of praise for how well she did. We also had two tunes new in the repertoire, so a lot of time was spent in getting them up to standard. The evening was spent relaxing, playing some tunes and swopping parts and instruments, and imbibing quite a lot of wine! Sunday was a slightly more relaxed day – fairly intensive rehearsal in the morning, and then a foretaste in the afternoon of some new music to come in to the repertoire next year. So exciting, but a big secret for the moment! Our next weekend will be in Youlgreave in April where we will performing in the afternoon in the Village Hall on Sunday 7th April. Hope to see some of you there perhaps!!
