Buckinghamshire 9-11th February 2018
The not Milton Keynes weekend! 9-11 th February 2018
Just back from our first meeting of 2018 which was held in Buckinghamshire. We were priviledged to stay in an amazing place. So much space, floor to ceiling glazing everywhere, very well equipped kitchen, underfloor central heating throughout and a hot tub!! The
built-in technology everywhere was amazing – electric blinds, beautiful lighting, but my personal favourite was the infra red loo flushing system!
However the real purpose of the weekend was for rehearsal and we now have
lots of lovely new repertoire to work on. We also worked really hard on some
pieces which we hadn’t played for quite a long time and Jan made her debut as a
Basso player wow-ing us all with her feet percussion accompaniment!
It was good to be back together again after the winter break and it
wasn’t all hard work. Friday and Saturday evening saw the hot tub fully occupied
with willing volunteers, complete with Prosecco in floating wine glasses to
celebrate Elspeth’s birthday. The record time for immersion was about an hour
and a half! Watching the water condense into a light mist over the tub was
magic, although getting out into a near freezing temperature was less so!
We managed a walk on Saturday after lunch through the beautiful
adjacent woodland and also spent a little time meeting the designer hens,
exploring the bat house and looking out for the Muntjak deer which often come right into the garden. And tunes were also played of course.
We are looking forward to a full year again – we already have concerts arranged in Youlgreave in Derbyshire in March, Bridport in April, Islip near Oxford in October and Stoke Newington in November so we hope to see some of you somewhere, sometime during the year.
